Located on the shores of Lake Norman in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, lies a culinary gem waiting to be discovered; well let me say....RE-discovered!  Anntonys is BACK!  And it's now at The Landing, with a prime waterfront location at 44917 Slanting Bridge Road.   This new addition to Lake Norman's dining scene offers a captivating blend of exquisite cuisine, waterfront views, and warm hospitality, making it a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.  This restaurant is rooted in a unique blend of Caribbean-inspired cuisine with a Southern twist, with flavors that have been enticing Charlotte area visitors for decades!

The Birth of Anntony's

Dr. Tony Martin's life, the original founder of Anntony's sauces, and eventually his well-known Anntony's Caribbean Cafes, took a significant turn when Tom Smith, former president of Food Lion, sampled his sauce at a food show in the early 1980s. Impressed by the flavor and potential, Smith encouraged Martin to bring his creations to a wider audience. Thus, Anntony's Caribbean Chicken was born, named by combining Martin's own name with that of his beloved mother, Ann.

From Rotisserie Chicken to Culinary Empire

What started as a humble operation, with Martin selling his rotisserie chicken out of a pizza parlor in Statesville, quickly blossomed into a culinary sensation. Martin's rotisserie chicken, marinated and seasoned with Caribbean flavors, captivated diners and soon outsold the shop's other offerings.

In 1984, Martin opened the first Anntony's Caribbean Chicken restaurant, and the rest, as they say, is history. Over the years, the menu expanded to include an array of Caribbean-inspired dishes with a Southern flair, all prepared with Martin's signature sauces and seasonings.  One of my husband's and I's favorite places to go was their location in Cornelius, at Shops on the Green, many decades ago!  The sauce on their jerk chicken was absolutely fantastic, and the Callaloo greens were simply divine!   Although Martin sold the restaurant in 2022, he remains dedicated to the production and distribution of his renowned sauces and spices. 

A Reunion with Flavorful Memories

For many, the return of Anntonys is a reunion with cherished memories of past meals shared with friends and family.  Anntonys has a storied history of delighting diners with its tantalizing array of Caribbean-inspired dishes, each infused with the Anntony's signature sauces, spices, and marinades. Standout items on the menu include the iconic rotisserie chicken dinner, served with a choice of sides ranging from traditional Caribbean favorites like the Callaloo and plantains to Southern classics like mac and cheese and coleslaw. Also on the menu at Anntonys at the Landing are a variety of pork and rib dinners, as well as seafood and sandwich selections. The Calypso Crab Cakes are just wonderful!  Each dish is a celebration of the vibrant and diverse culinary traditions of the Caribbean.
